“We have a passion for bringing people together through food and drinks,” says Chris Madrill, one half of the dynamic duo behind Marmalade Brunch House. Chris and his brother, Nelson, opened their brunch spot in April 2023, at the remarkable ages of nineteen and twenty. Their youthful energy and love for great food are palpable in every corner of this colorful, welcoming space.

Born and raised in Salt Lake City, Chris and Nelson grew up in the restaurant industry, starting as dishwashers at the tender age of thirteen. Over the years, they worked their way up through various kitchen roles, gaining valuable experience that would one day fuel their dream of owning a restaurant. That dream became a reality when they partnered with two others to create Marmalade Brunch House - a venue they had their eyes on since high school.

The brothers knew they wanted their restaurant to be more than just a place to eat. “We wanted a space that matched the quality of food we were putting out,” Chris explains. The result is a charming, French-inspired brunch spot that is as much about the ambiance as it is about the food. With a pink color palette accented by greens and blues, the decor is both vibrant and inviting - every detail thoughtfully chosen by Chris, Nelson, and their family, who handled all the decorating themselves.

The menu, which Chris and Nelson designed together, is heavily influenced by French cuisine. “We just think some of the best food comes from French cuisine.” The offerings include classic brunch staples like French toast, pancakes, homemade beignets, and a variety of omelets and other egg dishes. But it does not stop there; the lunch options are equally enticing, featuring standout items like their bacon jam burger and the aptly named “Morning After” burger.

The brothers’ approach to Marmalade Brunch House is rooted in their belief that food has the power to bring people together. This is evident not just in the food, but also in the special touches that make the experience memorable. On weekends, the restaurant features a mimosa bar, where guests can mix their favorite fruits, juices, and bottles of champagne - or create delicious mocktails, ensuring there is something for everyone.

Since opening their doors, Chris and Nelson have been thrilled with the response. “We’re very grateful for how busy we’ve been, every weekend, day in and day out.” With their dedication, passion, and a menu that keeps people coming back for more, Chris and Nelson Madrill are proving that age is just a number when it comes to achieving your dreams, and these two brothers are just getting started.
